March 13, 2012

Hi family,
Thanks for all of your emails. sounds like everyone is just living the life going to new zealand and disneyworld and everything! What a dream. Anyways, so this week was a good one. ch ch ch changesss. So, last email I was definitely stressin out, but it has not proved to be so bad. Training always comes with growing opportunities, but I feel better having done this once and knowing a little bit more about what I'm getting myself into.

so, I shall tell you. Last Tuesday, sister Lamb and I got a sister named sister schwartz who was with us for the day. She's way cool, and actually seems really similar to me...studying anthropology/business at BYU, knew some spanish before, dresses the same (as if I dress really uniquely...), the whole shebang. I was sure we would be comps. But such is not the case! Wednesday rolled around, and my comp is Sister Cottrell. If the name sounds familiar, it's because her cousin served at the VC with me (as an English sister), up until december. so sister cottrell is from kaysville, utah. she is super sweet, super nice, super humble, doing great. I remember how moody I was my first couple weeks, and she's doing really good. I can tell she gets bummed out with Spanish, and that the whole exact obedience thing is definitely an adjustment, so I'm trying to just help her all through it. i think the hard part about being a trainer is that you gotta be the person that makes all the rules, but then you still want to be their friend and their support. Aka...you have to be a parent to someone your own age. How do parents do it, I tell you. But it's going well. I feel stronger to handle this than I felt when i first trained, which just shows how ether 12:27 comes to pass, eh? anyways, so she's great. sorry i don't have a picture with her yet. she's suuuper cute, and she'll be great. she was at UVU studying dental hygiene before the mish. anyways, so i'll keep you posted on how it goes.

Okay soooo what else. this week we've seen some good miracles! one thing that I've really learned this past week is how the Spirit can make us work a lot more effectively. We've made it a point to pray more as we're trying to decide where to go during the day, and it WORKS. It's so cool...as we're praying more, we're really being led to the places we need to go to. we don't knock on as many empty houses, and we find people that are prepared. 2 nights ago, as we were planning, i felt like we should visit this random potential investigator that didn't even seem that interested. Yesterday as we were going around, I felt that again, adn we decided to go. He wasn't home, but he lives in the same trailer park as some former investigators. So we go visit them, and they open the door, they welcome us in, and we sit down, adn the guy whips out his restoration pamphlet and goes "I have some questions." and we go on to teach them the whole restoration, and they were SO awesome! As we were setting up the next appointment, they were like "lets set up a time so that the whole family can be there". they were so great. we also decided to visit a referral that was home and also welcomed us right in to teach her. It's so cool to see how we don't need to just float around trying to figure out where to go, the Lord will tell us.

I also had some great experiences in the VC this past week. the whole teaching people over the compuiter/phone continues to go well. I'm teaching this one guy who is blind, who met a member as she was flying back home from being in Arizona. i met her at christmas lights, and followed up and she gave me this referral. so he's way awesome.

also, I had the sweet opportunity to help out this family that came into the VC a few days ago. the dad came in and asked if we had any movies about love/families, and then the rest of his family came in. you could tell they came in afterjust having a big fight or something, and by the end of the night they were all hugging and holding hands. the power of teh spirit! so cool
anyways, i must be off. love you all, have a great week! sorry my emails are pretty short and scattered. love sister fors
