Helloooooooooo Family!
Well well well all is well here in Mesa. Thanks for all your emails! And Jake looks so cute! I read about mom and dad looking at houses in Orange County, but then I'm glad you talked yourselves out of it :) just kidding. Anywho, the work continues to go well, and I love our area more and more each day. The ward is full of great members, and I just feel like everyone in our area is so warm and humble. Sister Vause is a saint, and just always happy and loving. I think this coming week will be a really good one, the more I get to know our area, the more I see all the potential it has. The VC is going well, too...they're setting up the stage for the Easter Pageant! It'll be from the end of March to beginning of April.
Well, yesterday we had a great lesson with a 25 yr old guy named Ramiro. Sis vause has been teaching him since Thanksgiving-ish, but he's always super busy. Anywho, so we talked to him, and he is just SO sweet. He's always smiling, adn he had read the chapter we left him two times over. I asked him if he would be baptized, and he goes "...Si!" and then I asked if he'd prepare for March 3rd, and he just goes "Esta bien! Esta muy bien." He's just awesome. I'm so excited for him.
Cesar, the 9 year old, is also doing well. He came to a baptismal service on Saturday,a nd was so cute. He was like freakin out the whole time the people were getting baptized he was so excited. He kept being liek "I'm next! Dunk me next!" and afterwards he was like "So when do I get to choose who dunks me?" He's so cute.
There's this less active convert family that I just love, it's the Bello family. The mom is super cute, and super chatty and she just has these little phrases like "Espereme! Espereme!". The dad hasn't come to church for a while, and last night we talked to them about just making changes, and repentance and all of that. They seemed really receptive, and said they'll all come this sunday. Their kids are super cute and super huggy, and they all pray as a family still and are just really cute. I'll have to send pictures of them.
Well, one downer happened this week, with the Familia Lopez. We brought a member to the lesson that kind of scared them off. We invited them to church, and the member kind of went off about this being the one and only true church, and you could see the family's eyes just get wider and wider. We called them on Sunday to see if they were gonna come, and the dad was just like "We think we're gonna hold off until another occassion"...yikes. I was like "ok, esta bien! esta bien!" trying to do anything but pressure them more. So we're trying to figure out how we can help them out more haha.
Ummm what else...I don't have much time. Yesterday in the VC I gave this tour to a Panamanian lady and her Puerto Rican husband. They live here and aren't members, but her brother was viisiting from Panama, and he is a less-active member who got baptized like 3 years ago. So SHE decided to bring him to the visitors center, and basically she goes "I heard that he couldn't even enter the temple of his own church, and I realized that that is just not right, so I decided to bring him in here, so he could get in touch with someone or something, so he can actually start living his own faith! He needs to stop making excuses and start doing something about this so he can someday enter his own temple!" It was so hilarious. And she went off about how he's not "digno" right now, and he was liek "Si, soy digno, solo necesito esforzarme un poco mas." It was awesome. It was like, normally we teach non-members with a member present. That was like teaching a less-active member with a non-member present, because she was the one encouraging it so much.
What else...I'm blanking on all the other things that happened this week. Our fast is well underway in the ward! We got it almost all signed up for, and gave everyone kitchen magnets yesterday so they can do member missionary work. Last night we ate dinner with the bishop, which was really good for us to get to know him better. Anyways, I must be off. I'm sure I'll have more to report next week. I love you all! I'm so grateful for the Book of Mormon, and for living prophets. I'm just grateful for how they can provide the words that we need! Whenever we feel like we're lacking the Lord's guidance in our lives, we need not look any further than the prophet's words, it's all right there. Anywho, I love you all. Have a great week! Love, SIster Fors
